At The Old School House, we are exceptionally pleased to offer specially designed rooms that cater to the specific needs of our delightful two-year-old children. Within these spacious and inviting spaces, we are committed to fostering a nurturing and attentive environment.
Our comprehensive School Readiness Programme commences in the Baby Room and extends throughout the nursery. In the Twos Room, we place significant emphasis on nurturing independence by encouraging children to use cutlery, dress themselves, and support them as they advance to potty training. Our dedicated team works diligently to ensure these transitions are as smooth as possible. Each week, we provide a highlight of your child’s experience through our EyLog app, accompanied by a photo or video to support parent engagement and offer added reassurance.
We recognise that children at this stage are traversing a landscape of significant emotions and novel experiences, which can occasionally render tasks such as toileting, brushing teeth, and other daily routines somewhat daunting at home. In response, we employ a robust key worker approach, assigning each child a dedicated staff member who is well-acquainted with them and can offer tailored support. Our experienced team is committed to assisting both your child and your family through these transitional periods. To facilitate this process, we have developed home link bags, containing useful resources and activities tailored to the specific needs of your child. These bags serve as valuable tools to support your child’s development and help reinforce routines, ensuring a smoother transition for everyone involved.
Our Two Rooms provide a diverse selection of extracurricular activities, conducted by external instructors, which include cooking, music and movement, and sensory sessions, among others. These activities not only enhance children's skills across specific subjects in accordance with our comprehensive framework but also prepare them for school by engaging them in a range of 'lessons'.
Each room features direct access to an outdoor area, where a diverse array of activities is arranged daily by our team to promote various forms of play. Among these activities are opportunities to indulge in messy play at the mud kitchen, engage in imaginative play in our play house, and enjoy the freedom of running in our large spacious outdoor space, all of which allow children to express themselves fully and relish the outdoor environment.
