We are committed to collaborating closely with parents and guardians to foster a supportive and nurturing environment conducive to your child's development. Please find below some essential information to assist you in getting started and staying connected. 

Here at The Old School House Nursery & Preschool, our philosophy is Our Passion, Their Future. At our nursery, we are unwaveringly committed to nurturing the potential of every child. Our philosophy is centred on cultivating a caring, supportive, and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace. • Operational hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 18:00 or 13:00-18:00. 
• We require a minimum commitment of either two full days or four half-day sessions, or their equivalent.  
• Our facilities remain open for 51 weeks each year, closing only on Bank Holidays and for one week during the Christmas period. 
• We offer Term-time only contracts  

 There may be occasions we have a little more flexibility, so please always do enquire so we can see what we can do for you. 

Here at The Old School House Nursery, our curriculum is meticulously crafted to evoke a passion for learning while establishing a robust foundation for each child’s developmental journey. We offer a dynamic and diverse environment where children are encouraged to engage in interactive activities, exploration, and play, which nurtures creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking. Our curriculum is anchored in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, guaranteeing comprehensive coverage of all aspects of learning, from language and communication to physical development and personal, social, and emotional growth. Through an integration of structured activities and child-initiated exploration, we emphasise the development of essential skills, including problem-solving, independence, and social interaction, enabling each child to flourish uniquely. At The Old School House, we are committed to fostering a warm and supportive atmosphere where children feel confident, valued, and enthusiastic about learning. 
 
At The Old School House Nursery, we believe in providing the best experiences for every child, and that’s why we offer a rich variety of extracurricular activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our carefully crafted programs are designed to complement our core curriculum, giving children the opportunity to explore new interests, develop skills, and discover their passions. These sessions include a Drama Teacher, Baby Sensory Sessions, a Maths and English Tutor, Cooking Classes and many more. Our extracurricular activities are not just fun—they are an integral part of fostering a well-rounded education. By providing opportunities for children to explore different areas of learning, we help them build self-esteem, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, all while having a great time. 

Each of our carefully designed rooms has direct access to an outdoor area, allowing children to explore nature, engage in active play, and develop their physical and social skills. Our outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed to complement the indoor activities, offering a variety of safe, stimulating environments that promote creativity, exploration, and growth. Whether it's our construction area, our climbing station or a place for imaginative games, our outdoor spaces are an integral part of your child's day at our nursery. We believe that spending time outdoors fosters a sense of independence, curiosity, and well-being, all of which are key to a child's development. 

We value open communication with all parents. To keep you informed, we offer: 

• Frequent updates through our EyLog application
• Parent-Practitioner consultations held every term
• Daily activity reports for our Babies and Toddlers 
• Open-door policy—do not hesitate to contact us at any time! 

Your child’s safety is our top priority. We ensure: 

• All our staff are comprehensively trained in a variety of essential areas, including Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Food Hygiene, among many others. 
• Every member of our team holds an Enhanced DBS check.  
• We adhere to rigorous hygiene protocols to ensure the nursery environment remains clean and safe.  
• We have secure entry systems in place, along with sign-in and sign-out procedures for all children.  

At our establishment, we take pride in offering nutritious and well-balanced meals and snacks, expertly prepared on-site by our talented Chef. We are honoured to have received a prestigious 5-star Food Hygiene Rating from the Environmental Health, which reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. Prior to your child joining us, we conduct a comprehensive settling-in session to ensure we have a deep understanding of all your child’s individual needs.

Please ensure your child has the following with them: 

• An additional set of clothing, clearly marked with your child's name   
• Any particular items such as comfort objects
